Project Description

Andrew Sullivan, a local raft guide, performs a high-side maneuver in an effort to keep his boat from flipping. The rest of the occupants have already fallen out.

This narrow strip of water is called the Box Canyon and is located at the bottom of Sweet’s Falls Class V rapid on the Gauley River.

In my 20+ years of video kayaking, I have spent a lot of time on this rock capturing video footage of rafts attempting to navigate this challenging part of the rapid. It was nice to shoot some still photography here too.
